Why Ghosting Became Normal — and How to Stop Accepting It

Ghosting has become one of the most frustrating features of modern dating.

Two people connect. They exchange messages, perhaps go on several dates, and everything appears promising. Then suddenly, one person disappears without explanation.

Technology made disappearing easier, but convenience doesn’t make discourtesy acceptable.
Ghosting often reflects avoidance. Having an uncomfortable but respectful conversation requires emotional maturity. Disappearing requires almost none.

The mistake many singles make is interpreting someone’s disappearance as a reflection of their own value. They replay conversations, analyze messages, and search for the moment they did something wrong.
Often, the more useful information is much simpler: the other person demonstrated how they handle uncomfortable situations.

At Sacred Amour, communication and respect matter throughout the matchmaking experience. When people date intentionally, accountability should be part of the process. That includes providing appropriate feedback and treating another person’s time and emotions with consideration.

If someone ghosts you, resist the temptation to chase clarity indefinitely. Their silence has already communicated something important.

You are allowed to expect mature communication from someone you’re considering as a life partner.
Modern dating may have normalized disappearing.

That doesn’t mean you need to normalize accepting it.

High standards aren’t only about someone’s education, success, appearance, or lifestyle. Some of the most important standards concern how someone treats you—and how they communicate when things aren’t convenient.
