How to Stop Seeking Validation From Someone Who Hasn’t Earned It

There is something powerful about being wanted by someone you like. But when their approval begins determining how you feel about yourself, dating can quickly become emotionally exhausting.

You start analyzing messages, wondering why they have not called, changing your behavior to maintain their interest, or trying harder every time they pull away.

Without realizing it, you are allowing someone who barely knows you to determine your confidence. At Sacred Amour, we believe attention should never be confused with value.

Before asking whether someone likes you, ask whether you actually like what you have learned about them. Are they consistent? Do they communicate respectfully? Do their intentions align with yours? Have they earned the emotional importance you are giving them?

Early dating should involve two people evaluating compatibility—not one person auditioning for the other’s approval.
Your worth existed before that person met you, and it does not increase because they choose you or decrease because they do not.

The right relationship will still require vulnerability, but it should not require constantly proving that you deserve someone’s attention.

Stop handing people the authority to determine your value before they have even demonstrated that they deserve a meaningful place in your life.
